Graham, NC 7/5/12- Justin Carroll picked up the PASS/CCS Super Limited win at the Anderson Motor Speedway in upstate South Carolina Tuesday night July 3rd after the race was called at lap forty-four of fifty due to time constraints due to multiple cautions. It was Carroll’s first career win in the regional touring series. Carroll had to fend off multiple challenges by South Carolina native Austin Lietner in closing laps. Karl Webber scored a career best finish of 3rd to round out the podium finishers.
“My crew worked really hard in this heat getting the car dialed in for the race and once we went green in showed. I had a great battle going with Austin (Leitner) there at the end as he was giving us a run for our money, but the #57 IBCI/Asbill Stilles Ford Fusion was able to hold on for our first win of the season,” said Carroll after the race.
To kick the day’s activities off in qualifying third place point man Cole Timm set fast time in his #57t machine. After the series redraw of the top qualifiers, much like their big brother series PASS South, Tate Fogleman would take the green flag from the pole position. Fogleman’s initial start was a bit slow giving the lead to Timm before completing lap one. Just a few laps after taking the green a pair of series newcomers, Greg Bohannon and Shawn Balluzzo, made contact sending Bohannon spinning and bringing out the yellow for the first time on lap five. As the field went to green Timm jumped back out to lead and held the spot continually for the next eight laps before the lapped car on Hans Seth came into the path of Timm sending him spinning and damaging his nose heavily.
With Timm out of contention for the win the lead was handed over to Justin Carroll. While Carroll took the lead over it was Jeff Batten, son of PASS South Series driver John Batten, that made his way through the field nicely in the event’s first half. After the halfway point single car spins by #36 machine of Tyler Dayton on lap twenty-three, thirty-seven, and forty slowed the pace of the field three different times. Tate Fogleman would do the same in turn two on lap forty-two forcing officials to let the drivers have one final restart to finish the race due to time constraints. As a good side-by-side battle was taking place amongst the leaders at the front of the field the yellow flag and checkered flag would waive at the same time after Jeff Batten made contact with Cole Timm sending him spinning in turn four ending the race officially on lap forty-four.
The next race for the CCS/PASS Super Limited late models is the Motor Mile 50 at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia on Saturday night July 14th. For more information on this event as well all Carolina Completion Sports sanction events visit http://www.raceccs.com/
