5 AM and Already Stuck In Traffic
My pal Larry Woody would be going nuts right about now.....it's 5 AM in the morning and traffic is already backed up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Woody hates waiting in line, especially at race tracks (and I suspect boat docks as well). He figures that if you know 300,000 or so fans are going to show up, track management should be able to get those fans in and out in an orderly and speedy manner. And, at Indy, there is an air of order. But the speed is reserved for the track.
Fans don't seem to mind. They are scurrying around trying to find an easier access to the Speedway. Some are in cars....a huge mess on Georgetown Ave, the street that runs along the front straightaway, some are walking, some are on bikes, some are just standing attempting to get their bearing. But mainly they are all in "a line" waiting to get inside the Speedway. It's the truly the epitome of  "hurry up and wait". But, when the green flag waves at noon today, they will all have found their way inside the track to watch one of the greatest spectacles in motor sports, the Indianapolis 500.
